Virtual & In-Person Counselling in Chilliwack, BC
I’m Devan, a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC), located in Chilliwack BC.
I want you to know that these pieces you are struggling with – they don’t define you, and there is nothing wrong with you. Just because you are feeling this way, or those thoughts that doubt if you are good enough to deal with what is happening right now, are not true. You were not born with a manual to teach you how to deal with these things or how to manage your emotions perfectly for you and your needs. You are doing your best trying to get through all these things.
I’m guessing you’ve found your way here because you are looking for something more for yourself- something different to make a bigger change and impact on how you feel as you navigate your life, and I’m so happy you are here!
That’s why DevanCecilia Counselling was created, as a space where you know you can come to get help, feel supported, and learn how to exist feeling better than how you feel right now. Lyndsay and I love working with individuals just like you, who might be having a hard time dealing with new or ongoing grief, who are trying to navigate life after a loss or diagnosis you weren’t ready for, feeling overwhelmed, anxious, and stressed with the weight of it all – or maybe you’re even burnt out from trying to keep up.
We know this isn’t how it will always be for you, and we trust that together, we will figure out what has been keeping you here, keeping you feeling so weighed down, and struggling. Together, we can find the pieces that work best for you, allowing you to leave behind what was never yours to hold; to move forward living your life the way you want to – validated, regulated, connected, and confident.
Self Guided Mental Health Courses & Downloadable Resources
To help you find tools quickly, and easily, I have created several on-demand, online courses you can access right away. I built them to give you access to very helpful first-step skills for a fraction of the cost it would take you to learn them with me in session. I did this so you could get to bigger and deeper pieces of your struggles with the time and money you have available for counselling sessions, to making deeper and longer meaningful change.
Learn the skills you need to manage the stress, anxiety, depression, grief, and anger you are experiencing right now from the comfort of your own home, at a time that works for you.
Counselling Specialties
Services offered from Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCC) with the British Columbia Association for Clinical Counsellors

Grief & Loss
Grief sucks. It hurts in ways words cannot describe. It can feel so heavy and unbearable that you don't know how to go on. You are not alone - even though it can feel that way. Together we can find ways that help you hold your grief so you can feel like you can live again.

Stress & Burnout
Stress is overwhelming and incredibly hard to handle. When you can't manage your stress, burnout takes over. Your sleep, health, and well-being are impacted. Making decisions feels exhausting, and connecting with others feels like too much. It doesn't have to stay this way.

Anger
Anger causes problems at work, in your relationships, and with how you feel about yourself. It takes over how you talk, how you act, and has really intense urges. You don't have to keep feeling this way. If you want to feel more in control and relaxed, working on your anger is a great place to start.

Anxiety
Unrealistic negative racing thoughts are not a normal part of everyday life. Neither is feeling jittery, or on edge, having difficulty breathing, having a racing heart, or having difficulty concentrating or focusing. Whether you have experienced anxiety your whole life, or it started as a result of trauma, learning specific helpful skills can be the difference between living as you are to living as you want to be.

Life Changes and Transitions
Changing your life from what it used to be to something new and unknown can be scary. If you feel alone or unsure of how to take the next steps in your life, talking to a counsellor can be highly effective and helpful. Get support in making decisions that can help you feel like yourself again, and make this transition to the next part of your life easier.

Funded Counselling Options
We direct bill to your insurance providers! Devan is a mental health provider for the First Nations Health Authority (FNHA). Lyndsay and Devan are providers with Crime Victims Assistance (CVAP), providing partially funded trauma therapy. ICBC-funded* therapy is also available. Please confirm funding needs before booking an appointment for pre-approval confirmation requirements.

Trauma Therapy
Trauma is a normal human response to abnormal circumstances, where you may have experienced emotional, psychological, or physical reactions to something highly distressing, harmful, or life-threatening. It may have been at one time, or over repeated experiences, or in relationship to other complex experiences. That is why we use EMDR, TIR, IFS, and somatic-based processes to support you in letting go of what was never yours to carry.

Neurodivergent- Informed Therapy
Counselling tailored for neurodivergent adults (ADHD, autism, sensory sensitivities), offering affirming, trauma-informed support that meets you where you are, from neurodivergent therapists. We focus on identity exploration, practical tools for daily life, and creating a space where you feel understood, supported, and free to be yourself — without pressure to mask or fit expectations.

Gender Support Therapy
Support for individuals navigating gender and hormonal transitions, including hormone readiness assessments, pregnancy, postpartum, perimenopause, and menopause. We offer informed, compassionate care that honours your identity and lived experience, while providing emotional support, education, and practical tools to help you feel grounded, confident, and supported through each stage of change.

About Our Counsellors
Meet Devan
I’ve been volunteering and working in the field of psychology since 2013. I received a Master’s degree from Adler University in 2015, and opened this practice in 2017.
I’ve volunteered and worked in Hospice Bereavement Support, working with many individuals ranging from age 5 to age 97 in individual, couples, family and group settings during some of clients’ most altering life transitions and adjustments.
I have worked in Community Mental Health in the adult and older adult programs. I have supported folks navigating new and long term mental health concerns such as Anxiety, Depression, Stress, Assertiveness, Caregiver Burnout, Life Changes and Transitions, and Anger in both one to one and group settings.
I love what I do. I love it because people just like you find me and think I might be a good fit. Then, you take the bravest step and contact me to get started on your counselling journey. From there, you share some of the most vulnerable and private experiences you’ve had, trusting me to help you feel better. And from past client’s experiences – they do! And I hope you will too.
How do we get there? That path is different for each and every client. You might benefit best from building skills and learning more about why you are feeling , thinking and behaving they way you are. Or you might benefit from a more focused and structured approach where we bring in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), TIR (Traumatic Incident Reduction), or DBT (Dialectical Behavioural Therapy). No matter what direction we take, all of the work we do together will be designed with you and your concerns guiding the process. I am a counsellor who enjoys learning many different skillsets to be able to offer you services that work for you.
If you think I might be a good fit for you, I invite you to visit the Contact page to connect!
- I'm here for a reason and a season. What we focus on, and our length of time together is determined by you, and guided by me.
Meet Lyndsay
I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor supporting adults and women navigating trauma recovery, life transitions, identity exploration, neurodivergence (including late ADHD diagnosis or autism diagnosis), and personal growth. I provide a warm, collaborative counselling space where clients can reconnect with themselves, build self-compassion, and move toward more aligned and sustainable ways of living.
My approach integrates Internal Family Systems (IFS), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), somatic and body-based therapies, relational approaches, and self-compassion practices. I focus on strengthening self-awareness, nervous system regulation, and skill-building while fostering a safe therapeutic relationship that supports meaningful and lasting change.
After a decade of working in the mental health field, with experience across nonprofit and community settings, I now work in a private practice setting as a Registered Clinical Counsellor.
I bring depth and practical insight to my work. My practice is also informed by lived experience with mental health and late ADHD diagnosis, shaping my commitment to helping clients feel deeply seen, understood, and empowered to grow.
Devan's Children's Book for Building Confidence
I Am... A-Z
The Many Qualities of ME!
This book is focused on words of how wonderful all children are. Too many children grow up not hearing or knowing the many wonderful qualities they possess. This lack may very well contribute to poor self-esteem and self-worth from a young age. By teaching children early on about the positive qualities they have, their self-esteem and self-worth can be energized and built early in life, and hopefully they will grow into mentally well teens and adults.
As a Registered Clinical Counsellor, working in both the private and public sector, Devan Christian-Vermeer has worked with many adults who have struggled to see these qualities in themselves their whole lives. By using this book to teach children the language of their positive qualities, they can learn to see their own strengths and to use them as they grow up.
